Innovation Award: The George Washington University

Why they won: DSC_9180

The George Washington University (GWU) has demonstrated a true commitment to innovation, leveraging AssetWorks’ solutions to take a forward-thinking approach to its campus facilities management. Their efforts have transformed operations, empowered users, and enhance decision-making through modern technology.

What makes GWU stand out:

George Washington University delivered a game-changing upgrade to their customer service experience by launching a modernized portal that enhances transparency, ease of navigation, and seamless access. Their efforts significantly boosted productivity and efficiency for both users and technicians through intuitive self-management tools and streamlined workflows. By implementing Automated Business Processes (ABPs) and Standard Data Connectors (SDCs), GWU improved data integration and operational efficiency across systems.

The optimization of visual reporting tools empowered better decision-making, while user-friendly ReADY tile updates- such as customizable dashboards and quick request features, further enriched the experience. Their success was anchored by a strong change management approach, driven by continuous executive support, user feedback, and proactive reinforcement strategies that ensured smooth adoption and long-term impact.

Achievement Award: East Carolina University

Why they won: DSC_9177

East Carolina University (ECU) earned this year's Achievement Award for their dedication to improvement in facilities management and operational excellence. By strategically implementing AssetWorks’ solutions, ECU has significantly improved campus infrastructure, operational efficiency, and sustainability across the university.

What makes ECU stand out:

East Carolina University showcased a strong commitment to modernization and operational efficiency by migrating their AssetWorks solutions- including Space, O&M, and CPPM, from an on-premises database to a hosted MySQL environment. This strategic shift laid the foundation for greater scalability, performance, and data reliability. ECU also prioritized data integrity by undertaking a thorough cleanup and updating key integrations to maximize accuracy and functionality.

Their implementation of 10 AssetWork Standard Data Connectors (SDCs) significantly strengthened cross-system integration, while the rollout of ReADY Request simplified user workflows and elevated the overall service experience. Since the original implementation led by Steve Deines in 2013, ECU has remained deeply committed to continuous improvement and collaborative innovation.

Looking Ahead

Congratulations to The George Washington University and East Carolina University for their well-deserved recognition! The hard work, innovation, and commitment to excellence are not just improving campuses but inspiring the next generation of leaders in higher education.

We can’t wait to see how future award winners will continue to redefine the industry and raise the bar for success in the years to come!
